Celebrate the Oceans that Cover 71% of the Earth’s Surface with World Ocean Day Fun at the Museum of Coastal Carolina June 7
Did you know that oceans cover 71% of the Earth’s surface? Did you also know that World Ocean Day is an annual global celebration that connects the world, inspires curiosity about oceans, and educates the public about the importance of protecting them? Join this worldwide celebration with a full day of family- friendly fun at the Museum of Coastal Carolina on June 7 from 10 am to 4 pm.
Ocean-focused activities will be available all day in every gallery, featuring:
- cool ocean creatures
- marshes’ miraculous water filtering powers with the help of oysters
- sea turtle stomach sensory bin that vividly shows the alarming effects of marinedebris
- spotlight on everyday habits that can keep seas clean

Museum of Coastal Carolina and Ingram Planetarium Director of Programs and Exhibits Jamie Justice schedules all educational program events. Justice received her Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from Bowling Green State University and her Master of Science in Environmental Science with concentrations in Marine and Coastal Education and Coastal Management from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington.
The Museum of Coastal Carolina is located at 21 East Second Street in Ocean Isle Beach, NC.
Admission is free for members. Non-member all-day admission effective March 31, 2022 is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors (62+), $8 for children (3-12), and free for age 2 and under.
