On September 20th join Sabrina Woofter as she takes you on a guided shore walk on Ocean Isle Beach. Meet at the Museum of Coastal Carolina at 11:00am for a discussion about the coast, then walk one block to the beach where Ms. Woofter will identify some coastal critters, discuss important habitats, and investigate some secrets about the beach. The beach walk will take about an hour. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for a beach walk. Bring water with you or buy bottled water at the museum.
The Carolina Shore Tour program was created by the Cooperative Extension and the NC Coastal Reserve with the goal of conserving and improving the quality of coastal ecosystems and their benefits by educating the public and cultivating environmental stewardship. Sabrina Woofter is the NC Cooperative Extension Natural Resources and Environmental Education Agent for New Hanover and Brunswick Counties. She has a B.A. in Anthropology and an M.A. in Environmental Studies. Her goal is to help citizens and tourists better understand and protect the local coastal environment and its fragile ecosystem.
The Museum of Coastal Carolina is located at 21 East Second Street, Ocean Isle Beach, NC. After Labor Day, the museum is open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 to 4. Admission to the museum is free for members. Non-member all-day admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $6 for children (3-12), and free for age 2 and under.
