On Oct. 25 at 11:00, local historian and author Will Smith will be at the Museum of Coastal Carolina to discuss “OIB Ghosts: History of the Island.” Smith notes that “Brunswick County has 500 years of recorded history. With history comes great ghost stories.” You will learn about locally-sighted apparitions of German sailors, ladies of the manor, and Spanish Conquistadors in this family-friendly program. Smith will also discuss some spooky local haunts.
Will Smith is a retired USAF Lt. Col. and is currently an adjunct professor at BCC. He majored in history during his undergraduate work at The Citadel. He and his wife, Allison, own and operate a seasonal ghost walk business in Ocean Isle Beach. They recently published a book titled The Dead Don’t Like to be Forgotten: Tales from the South Brunswick Islands. Smith will have copies of the book available for purchase after his presentation.
The Museum of Coastal Carolina is located at 21 East Second Street, Ocean Isle Beach, NC. The museum is open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 to 4.
