Strawberry and Wine Festival

Strawberry and Wine Festival

Get ready for the Fifth Annual Strawberry and Wine Festival hosted by the Old Bridge Preservation Society.  This festival has become a favorite tradition for many in North and South Carolina and beyond.  Celebrate spring in style with great music, strawberries, and food and drink.  This year the venue will be the beautiful Sunset Beach Town Park, 206 Sunset Blvd N, Sunset Beach.

Join us Sunday, April 29, 2018, from 12 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Sunset Beach Town Park. Admission for the day is $5.  Headlining the entertainment will be Mike’s Garage Band, the Southport band with a heart.   And of course, the star of the festival will be the large, luscious, ruby red strawberries dipped in chocolate or served in shortcake with whipped cream.

If you want to dance and have a good time the music starts at 1:00 p.m. and goes until 5:00.  Mike’s Garage Band is a local favorite and is billed as the band that just wants to have fun.  The members call themselves a band for the ages and play music that focuses mostly on the tunes the band members grew up with – classic soul and rock. Mike’s Garage Band plays all the favorites, dancing music from start to finish. Attendees should be sure to have comfortable shoes, an appreciation for music and love the outdoor festival atmosphere.  You can dance the afternoon away or sit and sip while you listen to the music and watch the boat traffic go by on the Intracoastal.

There will be wines available from Silver Coast Winery and craft beers from Waterline Brewing Co. from Wilmington.  You will be sure to want to try a festival-themed strawberry wheat beer.  If you are a shopper, you can visit the Vendor Village where a number of local vendors, service providers and sponsors who will have their wares displayed and information available. In between dancing and shopping, festival-goers may build up both an appetite and a thirst.  You don’t need to leave the grounds as barbeque, fried chicken, and other festival foods will be available.  Wine and beer, as well as water and soda, will be available for sale.
