The Museum of Coastal Carolina presents a program called Native Americans of Ocean Isle Beach at 11:00 am on November 13.
How did the local environment support the needs of its Native American population? This program explores the early inhabitants of Ocean Isle Beach and the local mainland – their food sources, weaponry skills, clothing, tools, and shelters. This interactive program includes an opportunity for children to hold various animal skins and artifacts.
This program will be presented by Knight Gaillard. Ms. Gaillard grew up in Monroeville, AL. She attended the University of Alabama where she earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in history.
Ms. Gaillard taught for 32 years in the public school system. After moving to Ocean Isle Beach in 2016, she became an active volunteer at the museum.
She loves to read; her love of history determines her choice of books. She also loves to travel and has visited Europe and the Galapagos Islands.
The Museum of Coastal Carolina is located at 21 East Second Street in Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Admission is free for members.
