Sunset Beach, NC –– Ingram Planetarium’s fall Dome Theater and Laser Music Shows inspire curiosity for all ages by offering memorable sensory experiences with virtual space expeditions, educational films, an interactive science hall, and laser shows accompanied by popular music heard through the area’s best sound system.

Thursday through Saturday – Dome Theater Shows: Relax in the Planetarium’s comfortable seats and enjoy entertaining and enlightening immersive dome-based films:
- 11 am – Dinosaur Passage to Pangaea – When two children embark on a geology field trip, they find themselves on a fantastic voyage where they witness incredible geological wonders and learn the mysterious process that shaped our present-day continents. This film is suitable for children ages 6 – 13.
- 12 pm – Dark Side of Light (New!) – Have you heard of light pollution? How can something as essential as light be associated with pollution? Explore what is hidden under the term light pollution and learn what everyone can do about it. This film is suitable for visitors ages 6 and older.
- 1 pm – Cosmic Mashups – Supermassive black holes are found in most galaxies. Join scientists as they uncover how the merging of galaxies activates galactic centers. This film is suitable for all audiences.
- 2 pm – Forward! To the Moon (New!) – Join Crash Test World and MythBusters host Kari Byron as she journeys beyond the Earth towards a sustainable future in space. NASA’s 21st century Artemis program, named after the Greek moon goddess and twin of Apollo, is the next step in our mission to explore the universe and land the first woman and person of color on the surface of the moon. This film is suitable for all audiences.
- 3 pm – The Sky Tonight! – Take a live tour of the night’s sky and explore the solar system and more! This film is suitable for all audiences.
Friday and Saturday – Laser Music Shows: Enjoy spectacular laser effects accompanied by popular music heard through the area’s best sound system. All Laser Music Shows are suitable for visitors ages 8 and older:
- Friday:
- 6 pm – Fright Light – Popular Halloween hits including Dead Man’s Party, Monster Mash, Men in Black and Michael Jackson’s Thriller, all set to haunting lasers, will send chills up your spine
- 7 pm – Hypnotica – Featuring techno musical influences from hip-hop, soul and pop, this dance-based program includes incredible imagery and dazzling laser light effects.
- Saturday:
- 6 pm – Lasermania – Over five decades of soft rock, pop, adult contemporary, and easy listening music set to dazzling laser effects make this a fun family-friendly laser concert.
- 7 pm – Stranger Things – Experience the ’80s tunes and soundscapes from the hit TV series Stranger Things reinterpreted in vibrant laser light.
