This weekend the weather forecast is for partly sunny in the 50s – a really great weekend to come to Ocean Isle Beach. It’s always nice to come just decompress, relax walk the beautiful uncrowded beach, go shelling, breath deeply and watch the gulls glide but here’s a list of a few fun events going on this weekend on Planet O.I.B.:

The weather forecast for this coming Saturday looks perfect for a bonfire—mid-50’s and sunny. La Belle Amie Vineyard will heat it up even more with some live music. Should be a great afternoon, especially if you’re there!
At noon, they will offer a vineyard tour. They’ll also have a little outdoor cooking and, of course, wine tastings will be available in the wine shop. Festival club members– don’t forget that you and your guests always receive complimentary wine tastings, so bring your friends.. ?Bring food, get wine. See details below.

Jim Boyce, who coordinates the Ocean Isle Beach Sea Turtle Protection Organization with his wife, Deb, talks about the plight of sea turtles. In this program, Jim reviews the history of sea turtle activity on Ocean Isle Beach. He also discusses what we can do to insure that future generations will be able to enjoy these magnificent ocean creatures.

According to the Mayan Long Calendar, December 21, 2012 marks the end of a 5,125-year era. What will happen on that day? Will the world really end? Come listen to Dr. Louis Rubbo’s fascinating talk on the Mayan calendar and the end-of-the-world predictions that have been in the news recently. Dr. Rubbo will talk about the alignments of celestial planes and the science behind the predictions. The Coastal Carolina University Astro Club will hold a star party after Dr. Rubbo’s talk.
Dr. Louis Rubbo teaches astronomy and physics at Coastal Carolina University.
