This hardbound, beautifully illustrated book describes the history of the area from Pre-History to Present, including the exploits of OIB Pirates, the Plantation Era, our Revolutionary War Era, the salt mills, the dueling matches, the Civil War years, the Prohibition years of OIB liquor smuggling, the 1920’s OIB dance hall, the World War II shipwrecks here and the hard work the individuals and families who have made Ocean Isle what it is today.

The whole book is laid out chronologically beginning with the American Indians who lived at OIB thousands of years before Europeans arrived, and ending with names and pictures of current Ocean Isle Beach public servant individuals.

The authors, Fred David and Vern Bender, both live at Ocean Isle, and share a love of boating, fishing, and a deep fascination with the mysteries and histories of this area.
