History Buff Heaven

There are few places in America that can offer the variety of historical sites that are virtually on Ocean Isle Beach’s doorstep.

For instance the European history of this area goes back to 1524, only two years after Cortez conquered Mexico! In that year Geovanni da Varrazano made a landing just north of the Cape Fear River.

In 1526 Lucas Vasquez de Ayllon arrived at Cape Fear with around 600 settlers. The exact site of the colony, which only lasted a few months, has yet to be found. Read more

This weekend Sharky’s Waterfront Restaurant is proud to host a charity event in the Sharks Den on Thursday and Friday nights from 6-9 where volunteers will be selling raffle tickets to benefit our local community through Brunswick Family Assistance. Donations will be gladly accepted and all revenues from the raffle will be going to Brunswick Family Assistance. The drawing will be Sat night and the winner need not be present. The prizes are as follows for the four individual raffles:

2 VIP Tickets to see Jimmy Buffett with backstage pre-party passes for any 2010 US tour date!!!!

2 Tickets Plus pit passes to any 2010 NASCAR race, if you choose Charlotte or Daytona you also receive a garage tour and a infield host party passes!!
